Junior Year International Service Learning
Join our movement to build the next generation of leaders through travel and service.
We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
South Bronx Community opened its doors in 2016 to provide underserved students of the South Bronx with a path to post-secondary success. SBC promotes student excellence with its emphasis on academic and personal growth in a rigorous, highly responsive learning environment. This year we are excited to graduate our first class of students!
A core part of the SBC model is the "Rites of Passage" program, a four year learning journey that fosters leadership development, a sense of self-advocacy, confidence and preparation for the real world. As part of the program design, each academic year culminates in an excursion that builds critical mindsets and social/emotional skills through experience. Last year, our founding class went to Costa Rica.

This year, our juniors (MY babies) will be traveling to Oaxaca, Mexico to work with children in need. They will work to supply additional resources to support them, such as nutritious meals, medical care and extracurricular activities.
The cost of this trip is $1,500 per student. However, my staff and I are collectively fundraising to cover 75% of the cost for each student.
The trip cost covers:
- Flights
- Accomodations
- All meals
- Transportation
- Travel insurance
- Supplies
- Wifi
- Cultural excursions
Your contribution, whether big or small, can help us in our goal of sending our kids to Mexico!!
Thank you!
