Join Our Movement to Build the Next Generation of Leaders
South Bronx Community ("SBC") opened its doors in 2016 to provide under-served students of the South Bronx with a path to post-secondary success. SBC promotes student excellence with its emphasis on academic and personal growth in a rigorous, yet highly responsive and adaptive learning environment.
A core part of the SBC model is the "Rites of Passage" experience, a four-year learning journey that fosters leadership development, self-advocacy, confidence and preparation for the real world. Each academic year culminates in an excursion that builds critical mindsets and social/emotional skills through experience.
- $25 supports an incoming 9th Grader in our Summer Bridge program to prepare them for high school life
- $100 supports a rising Sophomore on an overnight camping trip which fosters bonding and team leadership
- $250 will benefit our Juniors as they make their first visits to college campuses and receive year-round early career mentoring helping them explore ALL post-secondary options
- $500 supports members of our Founding Class (rising Seniors next summer) who hope to participate in and immerse themselves in an international service-learning project.
With each year of their four-year journey at SBC, our students develop a personal support network, receive meaningful early college exposure and engage in an enriching global service project. These experiences go beyond traditional classroom learning to ensure our young people build the skills necessary to be leaders in the future.
