Help SBC Students Serve, Learn, and Lead

I hope this message finds you well. As a member of the South Bronx Community Charter High School (SBC) Board of Trustees, I’m writing to share a program central to our mission of preparing students for life beyond high school: the Rites of Passage initiative.

Studies have consistently shown that when students feel connected to their community and their personal experiences are acknowledged in their education, they are more engaged, perform better academically, and report less anxiety and depression. This is more important than ever given we are in the midst of a national state of emergency for youth mental health.

SBC’s Rites of Passage program is the cornerstone of a holistic approach to student development. Through this four-year journey, SBC students are offered experiences that build leadership, resilience, self-confidence, and real-world skills. From Summer Bridge for incoming 9th graders to international service-learning trips for seniors, Rites of Passage creates meaningful opportunities for students to grow, learn, and give back to others.

This year, we’ve launched our End of Year Giving Campaign, Serve, Learn, and Lead, with the goal of raising $30,000 by December 31st to ensure these life-changing opportunities remain available for all of our students.
