At South Bronx Community, we believe that education should do more than impart knowledge—it must prepare young people to thrive in an ever-evolving world. Research consistently shows that when students feel connected to their community and see their personal experiences reflected in their education, they engage more deeply and perform better academically.
Our Rites of Passage program is the heart of SBC's commitment to student development. This four-year journey is designed to equip students with leadership, resilience, self-confidence, and real-world skills. Through meaningful experiences and support from mentors and peers, students are empowered to navigate challenges and grow into leaders.
Your support makes this possible. Here’s how your contribution can directly impact our students:
- $50 provides incoming freshmen with a Summer Bridge experience, helping them build early relationships with staff and develop a sense of belonging at SBC.
- $100 supports rising sophomores on an overnight camping trip, fostering teamwork and leadership skills in a hands-on environment.
- $250 supports rising juniors on their first overnight college tour, introducing them to a variety of public and private institutions and helping them find the right college fit for their future.
- $500 provides rising seniors with the opportunity to participate in international service-learning and cultural immersion, broadening their worldview and allowing them to contribute to communities in need.
Each grade level of our Rites of Passage program is designed to build critical mindsets and skills through real-world experiences, preparing students to face future challenges with confidence. As our students grow, they gain not only the academic tools they need but also the personal qualities that will make them successful leaders in our community and beyond.
