Help SBC Scholars Serve, Learn, and Lead: Support Rites of Passage
Join Me in Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders Through Service and Learning
In my first year as a Board member of SBC, I was able to get the seniors to participate in aTDF.org program where the students had 8 weekly sessions of Broadway classes and 40 students attended Hadestown on Broadway. I was also able to have a few investment oriented students enroll in a full year Wall Street program. With my network's help, I was able to raise over $4,000 within a few week's time.
This year, I am asking my network to help me step up my game. I plan to match my donors with a 200% match. Yes, you read that right! For your donation, I will match it 2 for 1. The need to help these young hardworking students get a leg up on their journey of life is even greater than ever. Given my background growing up in an impoverished Brooklyn neighborhood, (Bushwick in the 1980's was definitely a tough place to survive), I know what it takes and I know how hope and support can lead to inspiration and confidence
At South Bronx Community (SBC) High School, we are more than just a school—we are a community dedicated to preparing our students for success in college, career, and life. Our mission is to empower students to become leaders who thrive in an ever-changing world. The Rites of Passage program plays a pivotal role in this vision by providing students with opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and community-building experiences.
The Rites of Passage program supports students throughout their high school journey, focusing on identity development, positive peer relationships, and leadership skills. Your donation will directly contribute to these transformative experiences:
$ 50: Supports incoming freshmen with our Summer Bridge program, helping them build relationships and a strong sense of belonging as they enter high school.
$100: Sends rising sophomores on an overnight camping trip, where they develop leadership skills and learn the importance of teamwork and resilience.
$250: Helps rising juniors attend their first college tour, giving them the opportunity to explore various campuses and find the right college "fit" for their future.
$500: Provides rising seniors with the chance to participate in international service-learning and cultural immersion, expanding their worldview while giving back to the community.
Our approach to education is built on the belief that all students can succeed when they are given the right support and opportunities. SBC is committed to nurturing each student’s potential, helping them become not just successful scholars, but confident, compassionate leaders. We are proving that when students are empowered, supported, and challenged, they can achieve extraordinary things. Your donation will help ensure that every student has the tools and experiences they need to thrive.
Please donate anything you can. Remember, the Chin family will match your donation 200%! I can't wait to come back to tell you the great success we have in mind for SBC and the students in 2025. Please help be part of the journey!
Yours Truly,
Steven Chin
