Cindy Campbell & Kool Herc
Cindy Campbell organized the "Back to School" party on August 11th, 1973 at 1520 Sedgewick Avenue where her brother, Kool Herc was the DJ. That evening is widely credited as the birth of hip-hop. Their combination of entrepreneurship, musical innovation and youth empowerment have helped to forge the multi-billion dollar hip-hop phenomenon that has spread across the globe. As early pioneers of hip-hop culture, music, art, and style, they have inspired generations of young people, musicians and moguls.
Carlos Moreno
In his role as Co-Executive Director of Big Picture Learning, Carlos Moreno is the visionary for all U.S. school and district wide programs, leading a national team of phenomenal regional directors, School Design Coaches and coordinating leadership development & support services for school and district leaders. Carlos also leads Big Picture’s work with scores of non-Big Picture schools that wish to incorporate elements of the Big Picture Learning design. A proud native of the Bronx, Carlos Moreno is a passionate educational leader committed to supporting school and district leaders who are creating high-quality, non-traditional schools.

Amaurys & Roselyn Grullon
Wanting to create difference in their community, siblings Amaury and Roselyn founded The Bronx Native, a clothing line that aims to instill a collective self-esteem, celebration and pride of their hometown. Resembling a Bodega store, The Bronx Native brings into perspective all the good things the borough has to offer. After hours, the Bronx Native store is used for open mic nights and networking events, bringing together creative and concerned residents who share a love of fashion and the borough.
